COMPETITION TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. INTRODUCTION

1.1 Please read these Competition Terms and Conditions (“Terms and Conditions”) carefully.

1.2 These Terms and Conditions apply to all persons who enter the Spekko-Licious Occasions Radio Competition (“Competition”).

1.3 By entering the Competition, each entrant agrees to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and accepts that the Promoter’s decisions regarding the Competition are final, subject to any rights afforded to entrants under applicable law.

1.4 The instructions on how to enter the Competition, the Competition mechanics, eligibility requirements and prizes form part of these Terms and Conditions.

2. THE PROMOTER

2.1 The Competition is promoted by Pioneer Foods (Pty) Limited (“Pioneer” or “Promoter”), with its management office at:

3. ABOUT THE COMPETITION

3.1 The Promoter, in partnership with MediaHeads 360 and the participating radio stations, is running the Spekko-Licious Occasions Radio Competition.

3.2 The Competition celebrates the different ways in which South Africans enjoy Spekko rice and the occasions that make those meals special.

3.3 Everyone enjoys their Spekko rice differently. Whether it is a family gathering, feeding unexpected guests, a mid-week pick-me-up, a special date night, a celebration or any other Spekko-Licious occasion, entrants are invited to send a WhatsApp voice note to 074 908 6749 telling us about:

3.3.1 their favourite Spekko-Licious occasion; and

3.3.2 the Spekko rice dish they love preparing for that occasion.

3.4 Selected entrants will be invited to participate in an on-air Competition moment and, if selected as an on-air winner, will win R2,500 (Two Thousand Five Hundred Rand) and a Spekko Rice hamper.

3.5 All qualifying on-air winners will automatically be entered into a Spekko-Licious lucky draw.

3.6 One lucky-draw winner per participating radio station will have the opportunity to participate in the ultimate Spekko-Licious Occasion cook-off with their favourite participating radio presenter, subject to these Terms and Conditions.

4. COMPETITION PERIOD AND PARTICIPATING RADIO STATIONS

4.1 The Competition will run on the participating radio stations during the applicable Competition Periods set out below:

4.2 Each entrant must submit their entry during the applicable Competition Period for the relevant participating radio station.

4.3 Entries received outside the applicable Competition Period will not be considered.

5. HOW TO ENTER

5.1 To enter the Competition, participants must:

5.1.1 listen to one of the participating radio stations during the applicable Competition Period;

5.1.2 send a WhatsApp voice note to 074 908 6749, or such other WhatsApp number as may be communicated on-air by the relevant participating radio station;

5.1.3 in the voice note, tell us about their favourite Spekko-Licious occasion and the Spekko rice dish they love making for that occasion; and

5.1.4 provide their full name and surname, contact details and region with their entry.

5.2 A Spekko-Licious occasion may include, but is not limited to:

5.2.1 feeding unexpected guests;

5.2.2 family gatherings;

5.2.3 a special date night;

5.2.4 a mid-week pick-me-up;

5.2.5 a celebration; or

5.2.6 preparing a meal while balancing a healthy lifestyle.

5.3 Entries must comply with all requirements contained in these Terms and Conditions.

5.4 Entries must be received during the applicable Competition Period for the relevant participating radio station.

5.5 Each entry must be original and submitted by the entrant.

5.6 AI-generated voice notes will not be accepted as Competition entries.

5.7 The Promoter reserves the right to verify the authenticity of any entry.

5.8 By entering the Competition, entrants agree that their voice note, name, voice, image and/or other content submitted or generated in connection with the Competition may be recorded and/or broadcast on the relevant participating radio station and used for Competition-related purposes.

6. ELIGIBILITY

6.1 The Competition is open to South African citizens and legal residents who:

6.1.1 are 18 (eighteen) years of age or older;

6.1.2 permanently reside in the Republic of South Africa;

6.1.3 have a valid South African identity document or passport and, where applicable, valid residency documentation; and

6.1.4 are available to participate in the applicable cook-off should they be selected as a lucky-draw winner.

6.2 The following persons are not eligible to enter the Competition:

6.2.1 directors, members, partners, employees, agents or consultants of the Promoter and/or its affiliated or related entities;

6.2.2 employees, agents or representatives of MediaHeads 360, the participating radio stations, agencies or service providers directly involved in the Competition; and

6.2.3 immediate family members of any of the persons referred to in clauses 6.2.1 and 6.2.2.

6.3 For purposes of these Terms and Conditions, “immediate family” includes a spouse, life partner, parent, child, sibling or person who ordinarily resides in the same household.

7. SELECTION OF ON-AIR WINNERS

7.1 Entries will be reviewed and selected in accordance with the approved Competition mechanic.

7.2 Selected entrants may be contacted by the relevant participating radio station and invited to participate in an on-air Competition moment.

7.3 Selected entrants may be required to share additional information about their Spekko-Licious occasion, favourite dish and why they enjoy preparing it.

7.4 Selected on-air winners will each receive:

7.4.1 R2,500 (Two Thousand Five Hundred Rand); and one Spekko Rice hamper.

7.5 The number of on-air winners selected will be determined in accordance with the approved Competition mechanic and applicable station schedule.

7.6 Winners will be contacted using the contact details supplied with their entry.

7.7 If a selected winner cannot be reached, declines the prize, is unavailable, does not meet the eligibility requirements or fails to provide information reasonably required by the Promoter, the Promoter reserves the right to select an alternative winner.

8. SPEKKO-LICIOUS LUCKY DRAW

8.1 Every qualifying on-air winner will automatically be entered into the Spekko-Licious lucky draw.

8.2 One lucky-draw winner per participating radio station will be selected to participate in the Spekko-Licious Occasion cook-off.

8.3 The lucky-draw winner will have the opportunity to:

8.3.1 cook alongside their favourite participating radio presenter;

8.3.2 participate in a fun and engaging live cooking experience; and

8.3.3 where applicable, receive guidance and assistance from a chef during the cook-off.

8.4 The relevant radio presenter will participate alongside the lucky-draw winner in the cooking experience.

8.5 The lucky-draw prize consists of the opportunity to participate in the applicable Spekko-Licious Occasion cook-off and does not constitute a cash prize.

8.6 The lucky-draw winner is responsible for making their own arrangements to travel to and from the applicable cook-off venue and for any associated travel, accommodation or other costs, unless otherwise agreed in writing by the Promoter.

9. COOK-OFF EXPERIENCES

9.1 The cook-offs are scheduled to take place as follows:

9.2 The cook-offs may take place in public spaces to allow listeners, shoppers and members of the broader community to witness and engage with the Spekko-Licious experience.

9.3 A cook-off will include the lucky-draw winner, the relevant radio presenter and a chef.

9.4 The Promoter may determine the format, duration and activities forming part of each cook-off.

9.5 The cook-off may be broadcast live or recorded for radio, digital, social media and other promotional purposes.

9.6 The Promoter reserves the right to make reasonable changes to the cook-off arrangements where circumstances require it.

10. PRIZES

10.1 On-Air Prize

Each selected on-air winner will receive:

10.1.1 R2,500 (Two Thousand Five Hundred Rand); and one Spekko Rice hamper.

10.2 Lucky-Draw Prize

10.2.1 One lucky-draw winner per participating radio station will receive the opportunity to participate in the Spekko-Licious Occasion cook-off with their favourite participating radio presenter.

10.2.2 The cook-off opportunity is subject to the winner meeting all eligibility requirements and being available to attend the applicable cook-off on the scheduled date.

10.2.3 The lucky-draw prize is not transferable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash.

10.2.4 The Promoter reserves the right to substitute any prize with another prize of equal or greater value should circumstances beyond its reasonable control require it.

11. WINNER VERIFICATION AND PRIZE FULFILMENT

11.1 Winners may be required to verify their identity before receiving a prize.

11.2 Cash prizes will be paid into a valid South African bank account held in the winner’s name.

11.3 Winners must provide all documentation reasonably required by the Promoter to facilitate prize fulfilment.

11.4 Failure or refusal to provide the required documentation may result in disqualification and the selection of an alternative winner.

11.5 A lucky-draw winner must be available to attend the applicable cook-off on the scheduled date.

11.6 If a lucky-draw winner is unable to attend the applicable cook-off, the Promoter reserves the right to select an alternative eligible winner.

11.7 Unless otherwise stated or agreed by the Promoter, the winner is responsible for all travel, accommodation and other costs associated with attending the cook-off.

12. CONTENT, PUBLICITY AND USE OF PERSONALITY RIGHTS

12.1 The Spekko-Licious Occasion cook-offs may be photographed, filmed, recorded and broadcast.

12.2 By participating in the Competition, entrants and winners agree, subject to applicable law, that the Promoter, MediaHeads 360 and/or the relevant participating radio station may use their:

12.2.1 name, voice, photograph, image; and video footage

for Competition-related, promotional, digital, social media, radio and other campaign-related purposes without additional compensation.

12.3 The lucky-draw winner agrees to reasonably participate in publicity and promotional activities relating to the Competition.

13. COMPETITION RULES

13.1 Only entries received during the applicable Competition Period will be considered.

13.2 An entrant may only win one prize during the Competition.

13.3 Entries must be original and submitted by the entrant.

13.4 Any incomplete, offensive, defamatory, misleading, fraudulent or otherwise inappropriate entry may be disqualified.

13.5 The Promoter reserves the right to verify entries and the eligibility of entrants and winners.

13.6 The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any entrant who breaches these Terms and Conditions or attempts to manipulate, interfere with or fraudulently influence the Competition.

13.7 The Promoter’s decision regarding the Competition and winner selection is final, subject to any rights afforded to participants under applicable law.

13.8 No correspondence will be entered into regarding the Promoter’s or judges’ decisions, except where required by law.

14. GENERAL TERMS

14.1 The Competition is promoted by Pioneer Foods under the Spekko brand, in partnership with MediaHeads 360 and the participating radio stations.

14.2 Pioneer Foods is the Promoter of the Competition under the Spekko brand.

14.3 By entering the Competition, participants agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

14.4 The Competition is governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, including the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”) and all other applicable legislation.

14.5 The Promoter reserves the right to amend, suspend or cancel the Competition where circumstances beyond its reasonable control make this necessary.

14.6 Any material amendments to these Terms and Conditions will be communicated through appropriate channels where required by law.

14.7 The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any failure or inability to participate caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control.

14.8 AI-generated voice notes will not be accepted as Competition entries.

15. LIABILITY

15.1 The Promoter will not be responsible for:

15.1.1 technical failures and network interruptions

15.1.3 delayed, incomplete or lost WhatsApp entries;

15.1.4 any failure of WhatsApp or telecommunications networks;

15.1.5 any inability to contact an entrant using the information supplied; or

15.1.6 any circumstances beyond the Promoter’s reasonable control that prevent the Competition or a cook-off from taking place.

15.2 Subject to applicable law, the Promoter accepts no responsibility for any loss, damage or injury suffered as a result of participating in the Competition or accepting or using a prize.

15.3 Nothing in these Terms and Conditions is intended to exclude or limit any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable South African law.

16. PRIVACY AND PERSONAL INFORMATION

16.1 The Promoter, MediaHeads 360, participating radio stations and their authorised service providers may collect and process entrants’ personal information for purposes including:

16.1.1 administering the Competition

16.1.2 contacting entrants and winners;

16.1.3 verifying winners;

16.1.4 fulfilling prizes;

16.1.5 facilitating the cook-off experience; and

16.1.6 conducting related promotional and campaign activities, where applicable.

16.2 Personal information will be processed in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”) and other applicable South African legislation.

16.3 Personal information may be shared with authorised service providers, partners and other relevant parties where reasonably necessary to administer the Competition, fulfil prizes, facilitate the cook-off or where required or permitted by law.

16.4 By entering the Competition, participants consent to the collection, processing and storage of their personal information for the purposes described in these Terms and Conditions.

16.5 Participants may be required to confirm the following declaration:

“I have read and accept the Competition Terms and Conditions and consent to the processing of my personal information for purposes of administering this Competition and related promotional activities.”

16.6 Participants who do not accept these Terms and Conditions and the applicable processing of their personal information will not be eligible to participate in the Competition.
