Terms and conditions 

1 All participants in this promotional campaign agree that the campaign rules as set out in these terms and conditions are binding on them. A copy of these rules is available to all participants and can be downloaded from the Absa website by searching “Summer Campaign 2024”. 2 The organisers of this promotional campaign are Absa and MediaHeads 360. For the purposes of this promotional campaign, Absa Bank Limited means “Absa”, with registration number 1986/004794/06 and Absa Group Limited means a public company, with registration number 1986/003934/06, incorporated under the laws of the Republic of South Africa (“RSA”), a public company duly registered as a bank and incorporated in accordance with the laws of the RSA, with its registered address at 15 Troye Street, Johannesburg, 2001 and MediaHeads 360 (Pty) Ltd means “MediaHeads”, with registration number 2005/012368/07, a private company, duly incorporated in accordance with the laws of the RSA, with its registered address at No 5, 8th Street, AME Office Park, Houghton Estate, 2198. 

3 Absa and MediaHeads, their directors, members, partners, employees, agents or consultants, the suppliers of goods or services and their respective spouses, life partners, business partners or immediate family members are not permitted to participate in this promotional campaign. 4 The participant acknowledges that they have been given enough time to read these terms and conditions before participating in this campaign. The participant is aware of all the terms printed in bold. 

Personal information 

5 Absa will only collect, store and use participants’ personal information, such as their name, age, telephone number and email address for the purposes of participation in the promotional campaign and for administering the campaign. This will not affect any existing marketing preferences that they have registered with Absa. 

6 By participating in the promotional campaign, participants’ personal information may be transferred to our service providers and agents (including their subcontractors) to store and use as necessary. We will never pass participants’ information to any third party for them to use in their own direct marketing without the participants’ consent. 

7 Participants’ personal information will be held on record for a period as necessary to administer the promotional campaign, in any event not more than 5 (five) years and then be securely destroyed.

Promotional campaign offer 

9 This campaign has two parts 

9.1 The Summer Campaign: 

From 15 October 2024 to 15 January 2025 (“the Summer Campaign period”), Absa Rewards members can get their share of R100 million in real cash back, depending on their Rewards Tier, which will be deposited into their Absa Rewards Accounts as per the standard Absa Rewards terms and conditions. 

The cash back will be paid as per the standard Rewards accrual cycles. 

9.2 The Absa Swiper Campaign: 

From 4 November 2024 to 15 November 2024 (“the Absa Swiper Campaign period”), participants stand a chance to win their share of R1.9 million rand and if they are Absa Rewards members, they receive extra R5000 and are automatically entered into the draw  to win the grand prize (“the Swiper vault competition winners”). 

Winners of the Swiper stand a chance to win one of 10 sleek, all-new Omoda C5 Style cars in red, including 6 (six) months’ comprehensive car insurance from Absa Insurance (the grand prize draw). 

Winners of the Swiper (who are Absa accountholders) will automatically be entered into the grand prize draw. The winner(s) of the car will be phoned by the respective radio stations live on air on 13 December 2024 or as soon as reasonably possible thereafter. 

How to enter the Absa Swiper Campaign 

9.3 Tune in to any one of the following 10 radio stations each day during the Absa Swiper Campaign period:

9.4 Participants must send the keyword #ABSAREWARDS on WhatsApp to 087 240 6456 to start the conversation via the WhatsApp bot. Participants are required to follow the WhatsApp prompts accurately to enter the Absa Swiper Campaign. 

9.5 WhatsApp rates are in accordance with the participants’ mobile network service provider. 

9.6 The Absa Swiper entries will be verified and managed by MediaHeads 360

9.7 There are no forms to fill in and once you meet the requirements set out in these terms and conditions, you will automatically be entered into the Swiper. 

9.8 You may only enter this competition once. 

Eligibility and qualifying criteria 

9.9 To qualify for the Absa Swiper Campaign, the participant must: 

be a South African citizen, a permanent resident of South Africa or a foreign national residing lawfully in South Africa; provide correct and full personal contact details, as required; 

be 18 years and older; 

accept the campaign terms and conditions; 

be an active Absa Rewards member to qualify for the extra R5000 cash prize; and 

have a valid driving license and an Absa account in good standing to enter the grand prize draw. 

To qualify for the 6 (six) months’ free insurance for a personal car from Absa Insurance, the participant must: 

be an existing Absa client; 

obtain a personal car insurance quote from Activate by Absa; and 

take up an Activate by Absa insurance policy for a personal car. 

The Swiper on-air competition 

9.10 There are prizes to be won on air per radio station and the following terms apply

The presenter will randomly select one qualifying entry and call the participant live on air. 

The presenter will explain the competition mechanics and then ask the participant to choose their favourite DJ, who will play the Swiper on their behalf live on air. 

After the participant selects their favourite DJ, the chosen DJ will begin swiping and the cash prizes will start accumulating from a minimum of R10 000. 

The participant must instruct their chosen DJ to stop swiping before the sound stops or they risk walking away with nothing. If the participant stops the swiping before the sound stops, they will win the accumulated prize money. If the participant is an Absa Rewards member, they will win an additional R5000 and they will be entered into a draw to win a brand-new red Omoda C5 Style, along with 6 (six) months’ comprehensive car insurance from Absa Insurance. 

All Swiper winners will be entered into a draw per radio station. There will be one grand draw prize winner per radio station. They will be called live on air and announced as the winner of the brand-new red Omoda C5 Style, plus 6 (six) months’ comprehensive car insurance from Absa Insurance. 

Prizes 

9.11 Each radio station will select five participants during the Absa Swiper Campaign period to participate in the Swiper and one grand draw prize winner. 

The Swiper winner(s) will receive their prize money in their existing bank account and if they are Absa accountholders, the prize money will be paid into their Absa account, within 21 (twenty one) business days from the end of the Absa Swiper Campaign. The grand draw prize winner(s) will win one of 10 new Omoda C5 Style cars in red, plus 6 (six) months’ comprehensive car insurance and will be contacted by Absa Rewards to arrange, verify and sign the necessary documents required by Absa before the car is handed over, within 10 (ten) days of the draw. 

10 Participants may only enter the Absa Swiper Campaign once during the Absa Swiper Campaign period. 

11 Absa is not obliged to award more than the defined prize. If the prize is anything other than cash, Absa will not be liable for any defects or damage to the prize. The winner must refer to the applicable supplier/manufacturer warranty for replacement or repair of the item. Where it is clearly stipulated in the terms and conditions that a prize will be supplied by a third party, Absa will not be liable if such third party fails to comply. 

12 If the car is not claimed and collected within 7 (seven) days of the pre-arranged handover date as agreed to by Absa, the prize may be forfeited at Absa’s discretion. 

13 The prize 

13.1 cannot be transferred and will only be handed over if all details given are factually correct; 

13.2 will not be exchanged for cash amounts or for any prize other than the prize offered in this campaign; and 13.3 may be replaced by another prize of the same commercial value, if the original prize is not available for any reason beyond Absa’s reasonable control. 

14 Once the prize has been handed over in terms of these rules, the results of the campaign are final in all respects and no correspondence will be allowed. 

15 When the winner accepts their prize, Absa would appreciate the right to identify the winner by taking their photograph (at no fee) and publishing this in the relevant media as decided by Absa. Absa does, however, acknowledge the winner’s right to choose not to be identified and may refuse to have their photograph taken and published in printed media or to appear on radio and television. 

16 If the winner has given their written consent, Absa has the right to publish the winner’s name and/or photographs (at no fee) in any advertising, promotional, print, point-of-sale or public relations material. The nature of these publications will be determined at the sole discretion of Absa, for a period of 12 (twelve) months from the date of the draw. 

17 Absa is not liable in any way for any direct or indirect loss or damage because of participants’ participation in the campaign. 18 If Absa cannot continue with the campaign for any reason beyond its reasonable control or if it is required by any regulatory terms or applicable law, Absa may end or alter the terms of the campaign on condition that: 

18.1 no participants have qualified for the campaign yet and reasonable notice has been given beforehand to all participants; and 18.2 if the campaign is ended as set out in 18 above, no participant will have any claim of any nature whatsoever against Absa. 19 The competition and terms and conditions will be governed by the laws of the RSA. 

20 Standard Absa Rewards terms and conditions apply. 

21 All winners, in addition to complying with these terms and conditions, must comply with any other terms and conditions of the organisers, suppliers and third parties involved in the campaign to participate and accept their prize (if applicable). 

22 We will process participants’ personal information to validate their entry and if they are a winner, to make the prize available to them. By entering this campaign, they consent to us processing their personal information for this purpose. If they do not consent to us processing their personal information, they should not enter this campaign.
